What birth control would you recommend in my situation? I am getting married this fall and will need a birth control method. I am not planning on having kids for about 5 years and would like a hassle free, low hormone (breast cancer in family) birth control. I was on the pill for many years and that did cause weight gain...that is not desired! I looked into the IUD (5 year one) but heard that it does not prevent conception but just prevents the embryo from maturing. Is this true? Are there any recommendations out there? Has anyone tried the Nuva Ring and not seen noticeable weight gain? Please help! Thank You.
What birth control should I ask for that clears breakouts? Okay so I am going to the doctor to go on birth control because my periods are all messed up, plus I break out a lot during my period which I definitely want to do away with. Normally I have mild acne; a pimple here or there but before my period it's HORRIBLE. Anyway I was wondering what birth control I should ask for that definitely gets rid of acne? Please & Thanks!
What is the most effective birth control with the least side effects? I've been given Tri-Sprintec because my first birth control I was given is slightly rare--What is the best birth control with fewest side effects? I've heard of birth control side effects being gain of water weight, increased or suppressed appetite, etc. Does anyone know if Tri Sprintec has these as side effects? And what birth control wouldn't have weight gain as a side effect?
What are birth control options for someone with high blood pressure? So, I just went in to get birth control and I was told that my blood pressure is a little higher than they would like. I'm going back in next week to get it re-checked, hoping things will have calmed down in my life. What are options for birth control (besides condoms) if someone has high blood pressure? Are there just different types of pills, or IUD, or patch, or what? I forgot to ask when I was at the office. Any help would be great.
How much will my birth control cost without using my insurance? I'm currently on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo birth control. I've heard it can be expensive. I need to put in my prescription soon but i don't want to use my insurace because i'm under my parents. If i do use my insurance, will my parents find out about the birth control? Or would it be possible to use my boyfriends insurance to cover my birth control? If there is anyone taking the same brand of BC as me, could you let me know how much you pay and whether or not you use insurance. Thanks so much!
What birth control method worked for you after you gave birth? I just want to know what worked for some women after you had your baby? I am looking around for birth control but want to know other opinions on different brands, methods, etc. Thank you I'm 33 and my husband and aren't having anymore. This our first (and last) together (he has 2 other teens) so I'm trying to get a head start by getting information. Yes. I plan to breastfeed for 6 months.
What brand of birth control pills do you recommend? I'm an eighteen year old female, and have been taking birth control since I was seventeen. Obviously, as a teenager, I have occasional breakouts of acne, which can be very irritating and inconvenient. What I've had some difficulty with is increased discharge with some birth control, in addition to mood swings and headaches. I've taken Yasmine, Ortho-TriCyclen Lo, and Seasonale. I liked the benefits of Seasonale, only getting a period 4x/year, but I noticed that I had mood swings and headaches a lot from it. I took Ortho-TriCyclen Lo, and had increased discharge for some reason or another. Yasmine wasn't too bad, as it has a diuretic, to lessen water weight. I'd like to hear about other people's experience with birth control, and what you recommend. My main goal with birth control other than the contraceptive use is for the acne medication, one that doesn't make you gain weight, or one that allows fewer periods. What do you suggest?
How can I get on birth control without my parents knowing in the state of il? Well me and my friend who is 15 were talking about being put on birth control with out our parents finding out. not because we are ready to have sex but because of what else the pill can do like help with cramps and long periods ect. Thats mostly the reason why and maybe if we are planning on having sex we would want to be protected ect. I was also wondering how much does the pill cost and what are the questions the clinic will ask you when you go to get birth control and please don't tell me that I shouldn't need birth control because at least I'm being responsible. well that is the reason its just that my mom wouldn't understand and i saw that the pill does treat cramps and shorten period. I mean i would tell her but i dout that she would let me.
What type of birth control pill will not make you gain weight? I take Yasmin and it doesn't make me gain weight but it is expensive. I've tried several older birth control pills that were cheaper, but they made me hungry and I started eating like a cow. Does anyone know what the names of the birth control pills that will not make a person hungry or gain weight? Thanks BTW I'm not over weight and I take the pill to keep my cycle regular so there is no need for sarcastic remarks.
How long after birth can I start taking birth control ? I want to get on birth control asap after giving birth. How long do I actually have to wait to do this? I was originally planning doing the Mirena procedure, but not covered thru my insurance, so I will be going back on birth control pills. Please advise. ty
What birth control pill should I get that will get rid of acne? I don't have severe acne or anything, just a few pimples, especially before and/or during my period. Some on my back too. What birth control pill should I ask my doctor for to get rid of it? My period also comes at random times during the month. Will the pill get rid of that? And will it cause any complications? I've had my period for a few years. It used to come around 24th - 29th but now it's all messed up again.
What is the best kind of birth control to use for someone who gets lumps in her breasts? My fiance has a history of forming non-cancerous lumps in her breasts. One thing that could have caused it is birth control. Therefore, she is kind of leary of taking birth control, so we always used condoms in stead. Are there any other women who have had this problem, and if so, do you know of any female birth control products that might not cause this to happen?
What is the best birth control in your opinion? Why do you like that kind of birth control? I've never been on birth control and am planning on getting on it after I have my daughter. I also plan on breastfeeding if this affects it in anyway.
What birth control is safe to use while breastfeeding? I plan to go on birth-control immediately after I have my daughter (esp. since they say it's really easy to get pregnant within a year of having your first, so I wont take any chances). What birth control methods are safe? What pills? What about depo-provera, or the shot? Or the patch? I plan to discuss this with my OB at my next appointment but I just want some ideas now. Any suggestions/knowledge?
Birth control -- side effects and a way to skip period and when will it start working? I'm thinking of going on birth control. In fact I'm almost 100 percent sure I'm going to go to the doctor in a week or so. Anyway I had a few simple questions first. I'm going to Hawaii this summer on July 28th, and my period is due to start (luckily) July 28th! So if I go on birth control after my next period, would I be able to skip my period for when I'm in Hawaii, because that would be a hassle. Also, what are the side effects after you first start taking the pills. Mainly, I'm concerned about spotting or irregularities. Also, last question, when will the pills start working (as in, when will I be able to have sex with my boyfriend and not use a condom). Will I have to wait a month, a week, until after my next period??? I would appreciate any help/advice/suggestions for those of you who have went on birth control pills!! Thanks!!!
How quickly do birth control pills work? I just started taking birth contol pills, so I'm still in the first package, just starting week four. I am sexually active with my boyfriend, and was just wondering if the birth control pills are effective in the first package, or if it takes a few sets of pills to really work. Any advice/help is appreciated.
What is the best birth control to use while breasfeeding? I had a baby 7 weeks ago. I have been breastfeeding since he was born and would like to continue to breastfeed until he is 6 months old. My midwife said the estrogen in birth control pills can affect my milk supply. I also do not want a birth control that will cause weight gain...any suggestions? I wanted to add that I have not had sex since having the baby. I only asked the question because my midwife suggested that I choose a birth control at my 6 week post partum visit and I was not prepared to choose one. I have been breastfeeding the whole time and would like to say that I did receive my period...for those who say that it takes longer when your breastfeeding everyone is different. I received my period 7 weeks after having my baby.
What does birth control do to your period during the first 6 months? I'm getting married this June and this will be the first time my fiance and I will have sex. We're extremely excited!! I need birth control for obvious reasons, and I'm worried about an unpredictable period during our honeymoon. That would ruin a lot of things! I need help!!!!!!!
How long after first taking birth control can you have unprotected sex? i'm 18 and i'm not on birth control yet. but i will be getting on in within the next 2 weeks. just wanted to find out some info before i go to the doctor. when i start taking my birth control, do you have to wait a couple days to let it start working before you can have unprotected sex? and also, i don't want my mom knowing just yet that i'm getting on bc, so if i go to planned parenthood, do they give it to you without needing your personal home info and stuff?? just curious.
How big a dosage of birth control does it take? Ok, so How big a dosage of birth control does it take to have an abortion/miscarriage without overdosing on birth control? One of my friends might be pregnant, and she insists she'll get an abortion one way or another, even if she has to have someone hit her in the stomach, which could cause more damage then she would mean too... With the recent law being passed here that says someone under the age of 18 can't get an abortion, she's kind of stuck. I just want the safest way for her to have an abortion or miscarriage, even though I don't believe in that... I just don't want her to hurt herself. I'm trying to get her to reconsider, but if all else fails I at least want her to be safe. Help. I realize abortion is wrong, I totally agree with that 100%, but I can't get her to consider another option. She's only 14, and she's worried about school, because she's already got her Colleges lined up. I realize that doesn't excuse her, but if there is another way for me to convince her, believe me, I'll try, just like I'll continue to anyway, but IF I should fail, I want to be able to give her a safe way to take care of it. And she can't go to her family, because they will completely disown her... So she's desperate... which isnt good. I wouldn't use anything like this unless it's absolutely last resort. I plan on doing everything I can to stop her from doing this, even if it would mean adopting the child myself... but she doesn't seem too keen on the idea of adoption either. But then that's where the whole family disowning comes in, I'm sure.
What hormonal birth control does not contain synthetic hormones? I'm looking for a birth control bill/patch/shot that does not contain synthetic hormones but actually contains natural hormones. I can find information on non-synthetic hormone replacement but not non-synthetic birth control. What's that about? Menopausal women can have options but sexually active fertile women can't?
What birth control pill brands have the least effect on Lamictal? I know oral contraceptives reduce Lamictal's ability to control seizures and bipolar disorder. But I was wondering if anyone who's taking both has found one brand of birth control pill that doesn't alter the Lamictal as much? It's such a pain having to up my Lamictal in order to take the pill. :( Makes me tired all the time.
What type of birth control should I switch to? I'm currently taking a mini-pill with just progesterone but my doctor said when my son reaches 6 months it becomes less effective and I should switch to a different method. Well he's six months old now. I plan on still nursing him and I've heard that the pill with both hormones can lower your milk supply. I've also heard that you can take something while taking the birth control pill to increase it. My main concern is the hormone getting into my son's system. I don't want to use an IUD (the whole foreign object inside of me and a fertilized egg dying doesn't sound good to me). I'd like to use something more effective than natural family planning or diaphragm /condoms. If I take a low hormone pill do you think that will be okay with still nursing my baby? How do you think the hormone would effect him?
Birth control? I feel pressure to go on birth control. I am 15 and not planning on having sex. But almost all my friends are on it and I feel left out? Should i go on it. (I also have realy bad periods and heard this might help true?)

How long does birth control stay in your system? My husband and I are trying to have a baby. I was on birth control for two years and stopped taking it about two months ago. So far, we haven't had any luck. How long does is typically take for the birth control to completely leave your system?

Birth control pill - changing time of day when travelling? I am planning a trip to Europe in February, but I'm starting on the birth control pill for the first time tomorrow (Yasmin). I want to take it at 5:30pm here because I'm most likely to remember it then, but then it will be 1:30am while I'm away and I'm afraid I won't always be awake or likely to remember to take it at this time. Is it possible to switch the time of day I take the pill if I change the time for the entire month that I am away: ie if I start taking the pill at 9am my time in February so it will be 5pm while I'm in Europe? And then the next month can I return to taking it at 5:30 my time? I know you are supposed to take it at the same time everyday, but I wasn't sure if this meant always or just throughout each cycle. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Can I start my new pack of birth control on a Monday if I am usually a Sunday starter? I've been on Ortho Tricyclen Lo birth control for about 2 months. I usually start my new pack of birth control on the Sunday after my period ends. But this time, my period ended on a Monday, so I started my new pack on that Monday. Am I still protected the same, or did I mess up? Was I still suppose to start the new pack on Sunday even if I still had a very light period?
How does the birth control pill work? I have a friend is who very confused about how the birth control pill works, so I just want to confirm. He thinks it works by killing off all fertilized eggs. In other words, he believes pregnancy will always happen, but it will kill the pregnancy. I told him that it is meant to work in the way that it prevents ovulation, therefore preventing an egg from even being released, but he still claims he is right. Who is right, and can anyone provide links? If it is still confusing, he believes that if a woman has sex on the pill, she will become pregnant and the pregnancy will either implant and be killed by the pill, or the fertilized egg will be killed before it can implant in the uterus. Either way, he believes the pill is meant to cause a miscarriage or an abortion. Just to clarify, he is not my boyfriend. I am married. This guy is a friend of ours.
When should I start my new birth control pack if my period came on a Saturday? Was on birth control but stopped taking it for a few months. Now I am trying to get back on but am confused on when i need to start my new pack of pills. (i used to get my period on wednesday so i would just start the pills that sunday) So should i start my new birth control pills tomorrow, or the following week?
How long does it take for the birth control patch to start working? I've been on the patch now for two weeks and one day. The first day of my period was on a Friday and I started using the patch on the following Sunday which was two weeks ago. I had sex with my husband tonight without using a condom. Should I be worried? Just in case some of you don't know, the patch has the same hormone as the birth control pill and the Nuva ring, but just more (by 60% I've heard). Anyway, so I'm sure it works the same as these other methods of birth control. Another question: Has anyone experienced any side effects from using the patch? If so, what are they and how long did they take to subside? I've been experiencing nausea and mild headaches and am wondering if these symptoms may be side effects from the patch. Thanks!
What is the best form of birth control with the lowest risk for weight gain? I want to go on birth control but the only thing that is stopping me is the fear of gaining weight from the hormones. I am extremely health conscious and the last thing I want is to gain weight. I want to know which form has the lowest dose of hormones that I can take unless there is one that doesn't have any hormones but I don't want to use something that I have to insert in me. Does anyone have a recommendation of the best birth control to use? Thanks!

What is the lowest price Birth control pill on the market? I have just switched to a new insurance and have to pay for all my per. drugs. I am on a pill called Apri (generic to Desogen). It costs me 45.00 per month. I want to switch to the cheapest birth control pil that I can find. I can't go to planned parenthood because I do have insurance and they make me pay for my birth control. Is there a birth control pill that will actually help my migraines? I have polycystic ovary syndrome and the best solution to elevate my hormonal levels is to be on the birth control pill. However, I seem to suffer more headaches and migraines while on the pill. I have so far tried Yasmin and LoEsterin and they have made the migraines worse. Is there a birth control pill out there that will help the migraines or at least keep them at bay?
What is the relationship between birth control and your period? More importantly, What is suppose to happen when you take the inert or sugar bills the last week of your cycle. Are you suppose to get your period. If so, Does having your period have anything to do with ovulation. Since birth control pills are suppose to stop ovulation, then why do you have your period. I'm confused. Is it all based on hormone levels what your body does?
Is it possible for birth control to kick start your sex drive? I have been taking Lexapro (20mg) for about seven months now and have noticed a considerable drop in my sex drive. I just started taking the pill the yesterday (Loestrine 24) and was curious if birth control would help boost my sex drive back up? Sophie... What's the best birth control to make your period lighter? I'm fifteen, I'm not looking to have sex, I'm looking for a lighter period.
