How risky is to be on Mirena? I had been taking ortho-tricyclen, but always forgot to take the pill.?
I am married, have a 1-year old son and planning to go to law school or grad school. My husband will also be attending college as well. We both work full-time and think that family planning will go a long way. Did anybody switch from ortho-tricyclen to Mirena? And how well did it go? I'm tired of hearing awful things, but need to know what's been going on with Mirena.

- Ok I'm not sure if this helps or not seeing as how I've never taking ortho-tricyclen. I just got mirena put in a week ago, Before I went in I had my doubts the main one being does it scrap your uterus therefore if you get pregnant you pretty much have like a self abortion and being extremely against abortion there is no way I could do that. My doctor said he was very pro life and would never put anything like that in a woman he then explained how the estrogen that is on it gets released and makes your cervix impenetrable so no sperm can get up there, now I'm not sure if you go from one to the other but for me he said to continue using our method of birth control (pull and pray) for at least 2 month to make sure. Now for me the actual procedure was pain free but every woman is different. I hope this helps you and good luck in whatever you decide to do.
